JUNIOR CHEF COOKING CAMP

SPRING 2026

Theme: "District 5’s Next Top Chef"
Eligibility: Youth ages 12–17 residing in Pompano Beach District 5 neighborhoods (Collier City, Hunter's Manors, Pompano Beach Highlands, etc.).   Proof of address required.
Event Period: Spring 2026 (exact dates/locations TBA).

Challenge Structure

Three themed rounds held on separate days (e.g., Saturdays in March/April 2026). Each participant competes in one challenge only (first-come, first-served registration).

  1. 🏠 Home Kitchen Hero (Indoor Challenge)Task: Create a healthy, budget-friendly family dinner (4 servings) in 60 minutes.Rules:Must use at least one locally grown ingredient (e.g., from Pompano Farmers' Market).Limited pantry staples provided; participants bring 1 "secret ingredient."Equipment: Home kitchen setup (stove, oven, basic utensils).

  2. 🔥 Grill Master (Outdoor BBQ Challenge)Task: Grill a complete BBQ meal (main + side) in 45 minutes using provided equipment.Rules:Proteins (chicken, fish, or plant-based) and seasonal veggies provided.Emphasis on safety, temperature control, and creative seasoning.Equipment: Community park grill station (charcoal/gas).

  3. 🍰 Sweet Sensations (Dessert Challenge)Task: Prepare a signature dessert showcasing Florida flavors (e.g., citrus, coconut, mango) in 75 minutes.Rules:Must include a "mystery basket" item (e.g., key lime, honey).No-bake or baked options allowed.

Judging & Prizes

  • Criteria: Taste (40%), Creativity (30%), Presentation (20%), Safety/Hygiene (10%).

  • Judges: Local chefs, nutritionists, and community leaders.

  • Prizes (per challenge): 

  • 1st Place: $200 gift card + cooking class scholarship.

  • 2nd Place: $100 grocery gift card.

  • 3rd Place: Culinary toolkit (knives, apron).

  • All Participants: Certificate + District 5 "Future Chef" pin.

CAMP FEATURES

Amazing Fun For Beginning Musicians

Designed to help children develop a life-long love of music, this unique day camp brings all of the experience and excitement that is the cornerstone of the COHYPOA Summer Music Camps to the youngest members of our community.

Camp Schedule & Final Performance
Camp takes place on Monday – Thursday.

On Friday, campers will arrive and camp will conclude with a final performance.

Families are encouraged to attend, and campers will depart after the performance is over.

Camp Activities
Campers will take part in vocal, instrument, and movement activities.  Campers will sing, play instruments, do crafts, move to music, create music, and even learn the basics of reading and writing music.  Campers will also have the opportunity to experience music and instruments from around the world.

The Fun Is Included
Instruments, music, and all other activity materials are provided.   Past performance themes have included Superheroes, video games, Disney, Pop, Caribbean and so many more!  Just pack lunch and snack each day and we’ll do the rest!

CAMP DETAILS 

Eligibility

Campers must be ages 10-18 during the current fiscal school year.

This camp welcomes all beginner musicians.  Campers do not need to know how to play any instrument.

COHYPOA is committed to providing a quality education to all qualified students and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, gender, age, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability. Please contact our office to discuss any questions or accommodations that may need to be made for your camper at least one week prior to the start of camp.

CAMP SIGN-UP

REGISTRATION AND WAIT LIST

Emails, social media posts, and phone calls will be made announcing when registration opens.  You will be able to register for multiple camps/sessions at the same time. A parent/guardian is require to complete the registration.

All registrants must pay the $25.00 non-refundable deposit when registering. 

POST-REGISTRATION CAMPER FORMS

Once you have paid the deposit and received a registration confirmation, you will be able to fill out your required camper forms. These forms include a medical information form (no physical required), consent forms, and more.  These forms should be completed as soon as possible, but are due no later than the start day of your camp.

WAIT LISTS

If there is a wait list when you attempt to register, you can opt to be placed on the wait list. No deposit is required to be placed on the wait list. If a space becomes available you will be notified automatically by the Active registration system via an email from Support@cohypoainc.org, and you will have 72 hours to accept or pass.
